Gun control and MASS SUPPORT for gun control in Australia came directly in response to the Port Arthur massacre in 1996. 35 people were killed and 21 were injured, it was the largest massacre in roughly 70 years and the nation’s overwhelming response was ‘Never again.’
There has not been a shooting massacre in Australia since.
In the U.S. in 2011 there were 8,583 homicides by firearms and 19,392 suicides by them.
In Australia in 2010 the TOTAL number of gun related deaths was 236.
I honestly don’t understand why gun control is such a heated debate in America.
You mourn and profess the tragedy of these killings every time they happen but then do nothing to stop them happening again.
